I actually think the kids did begin to get a feel for how much effort it takes, but frankly not even all the adults grasped the whole picture. I would have loved to get my hands on the smithy's tools! Unfortunately I did just enough blacksmithing in the metal shop at RISD to know how to really fry a piece of metal. Don't think he would have appreciated the help!! Joe – it sure was! Looks like a top notch field trip - I wonder how many of the kids realize the effort that went into it, although it seems like it was as much a field trip for the parents as the kids. I guess they didn't want any amateurs playing with the smith's forge...although with your glass blowing chops you could probably have handled it fine! Wow, what an adventure.
